Life is tricky

Needless to say, life has been very tricky lately. There is no sense or purpose I can find in anything happening recently. It’s easily been the most difficult time of my life. Many things have been falling to pieces around me. Loosing our marriage, loosing the house, loosing the Malvern sweat lodge and so many of my friend’s lives within unforeseeable problems. I really wish I could make this time better in some way. Like tuning the universal radio knob for better reception.

What I can say is that if it wasn’t for understanding, kind people, I probably wouldn’t be writing this right now. I thank my friends, my Mother, my Boss, and my cats for being there for me. And especially Ian, who was brave enough to call the police the other night to make sure a crisis didn’t happen.

My neighbor, who moved here recently from Ohio with is wife, has also been a rock in supporting me through this. He did what my Father, or my Grandfather, would have done in this situation. He put me to work helping him build a chain-link fence around his backyard for his dog. And also fed me dinner after work :d Yum.

Support comes from the most unlikely of places sometimes. I am thankful for that.

I also learned a new word recently from my neighbor. Persnickety. I suppose growing up in North Philly has shielded me from such creative uses of the English language. I’m sure I have more melting-pot soul in my language than most folk. This just adds to the pot in a great way.

I miss Elizabeth greatly at this point. I truly wish I could make it all better instantly. I am willing to do the work to make it right again. I have always been and always will be.

I find it amusing that life has recently been a lot like Savage Steve Holland’s “Better Off Dead” staring John Cusack. Where the songs playing around me have been, well, deep and dramatic in an 80s sort of way. Recently I have heard the following being played, at random, in the different usual places:

Styx: Babe
Mr. Mister: Broken Wings
Michael McDonald and Patti Labelle: Own My Own

Normally, if there is such a thing, such random places would be playing annoying pop music. Like I said before, I need to find that knob to adjust the station of the universe.

Happy Holidays

Is it Christmas? Happy Holidays everyone :)

Last night Elizabeth and I watched Neil Gaiman’s very entertaining fantasy entitled “Stardust” on the laptop positioned on a chair just next to the roaring fireplace. While sitting on the couch, Elizabeth sipped a Delirium Noel Belgian Christmas Ale and I enjoyed a pain-free night thanks to generic Percocet.

Up until now the Doctor had subscribed me Lortab, 5mg of codone and 500mg of acetometiphin. The Lortab wasn’t working very well in it’s minimal dose so I was taking 2 every 4 hours instead of 1. This dosage was causing me to have cold sweats throughout the night most likely caused by the acetometiphin. I would also wake up in the morning in more pain than usual due to the lack of a comfortable nights rest. Last night was the best nights sleep I’ve had since arriving home from the hospital. I suppose this was my Christmas gift from Santa.

Speaking of Santa, according to Google’s[1] Norad Santa Tracker, Jolly Ol Saint Nick skipped visiting Pennsylvania and New York. I doubt that was the case as the cats were repeatedly caught gazing out of our front windows at the overcast, yet brightly moonlit sky. They only tend to do that when there is activity out there :-)

SimcoeByTheFire

Last evening we also discovered that Simcoe dislikes whistling when one of the guys from Rifftrax.com started up a tune to the movie Spiderman. I continued the tune with the result of her ears and eyes paying cautious attention to her surroundings. After seeing this I couldn’t whistle any longer due to my difficulty in trying not to smile and chuckle. Simcoe also gets a little nervous when you sing to her while she is in your lap as I discovered the other day. I find this strange as she enjoys the ambient music that plays on the home stereo.

This is the first year Elizabeth and I did not acquire a Christmas Tree. We have had a tree every year since we started living together in our apartment in North Wales. In the past few years we have enjoyed going to a local tree farm, getting onto the farm tractor pulled trailer, hunting down and together carrying a nicely sized tree back to the convoy. They give us hot cider and if you are there off-peak, you get the experience practically to yourselves. I wonder if our lack of tree had an effect on the lack of Santa. Hmm…

Elizabeth and Michael’s One Year Wedding Anniversary in West Virginia

Note: I’ve been meaning to post this for a long time now. Glad I finally have the time to do so. This post reviews our Anniversary of October 22, 2007 and should have been posted not long after that.

Saturday morning, we packed up and headed out to North Fork Mountain Inn for our One Year Wedding Anniversary Weekend. It was a much deserved break. We haven’t had a full blown vacation this year, just small breaks here and there. This was a real treat and the time just went entirely too quickly.

Henman Bevilacqua Custom Guitars

Originally published at Bevilacqua.us.

Scott Bevilacqua, my incredibly talented cousin, has taken the dive into his life’s dream. Building custom made guitars for the stars. And it’s no surprise. Scotty has been a rock enthusiast as long as I can remember. I was young but I can remember his walls plastered with Rush and AC~DC posters along with his key chain collection. Heh, damn 80s. And it didn’t stop there. My Uncle, being a folk song enthusiast and acoustic guitar player most definitely set Scott’s palette for what was to come. In later years, Scott’s appreciation grew into Eric Clapton and beyond.

Well here is some of his work featured at this past NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants):
