A Scanner Darkly

Originally published at Bevilacqua.us.

Elizabeth and I watched A Scanner Darkly last evening. It’s a brilliant new semi-animated movie based on Philip K. Dick’s novel. Thought provoking and intriguing screenplay that delves deep into the psychosis of LSD and methamphetamine abuse. Very tough to follow at times due to this aspect making it feel like Jacob’s Ladder or Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me.

If you like your mind thrown about the room like I do you should check this movie out.

I don't know if we were "friends" yet but I went to see this movie in the theater and loved it. I want to watch it again.

Don't know if you're into Darron Aranofsky but he's got a new movie coming out, "The Fountain". If you liked A Scanner Darkly then you might like Aaronofsky's....

Also, the guy who did ASD did two of my fav movies (great one's for you two to watch). Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Awesome movies.

There is very little I like in the theaters. Hence why I'm raving about "A Scanner Darkly." Not to mention I love Philip K. Dick's works and drug induced insanity, on all possible levels. Call it 'been there, done that.'

I looked at:

Curious. What makes you think I might like these again?

I meant if you liked "ASD" you might like Aaronofsky's pics. He directed one of my top 5 movies "Requiem for a Dream". My god that movie is incredible. Please rent that ASAP (also coming from a been there done that angle myself)

As a separate note, the guy who did ASD also directed the two movies I suggested. You TWO (you and the lovely new bride) might like them. The are intellectual and engrossing love stories. Linklater who directed them (and ASD) has an incredible touch. If you rent it you'll see.

RENT ALL OF THEM!!! :D
