Steve Roach Gathering - 2007

This is the third time I have attended a Steve Roach concert. Any other time I have attended his concerts has been with him colaborating with someone. Each time has been unique. Each time has left me with a different set of thoughts. But this time, in his solo performance, he’s left me in nothing but awe. I truly didn’t want the show to end. It was, in my mind, the finest performance I have witnessed in the past 8 years of my attending his performances.
His set tonight was strictly electronic. This is his true workshop, this is where he gets his work done. His tribal, his drone, his colaboration just all comes secondary to his ambient soundscape expansion. This was his finest and you could tell this by how he was moving along with in groove, head moving up and down, smiling from time to time, being part of it all as the audience was.
And the venue was packed. I have to date never witnessed such a turn out for any Gathering. Rightfully so. All was as it should be. The venue, the performance, the audience. If you are some of the limited few yet to witness this living legend live, make it a goal.
He will leave you off world.
